Job description
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our System Engineering team. You will be responsible for supporting our growing GCP environment including helping migrate workloads from on-prem data centers to the cloud, and defining, implementing, and supporting best practices and standards across the GCP environment. You will also collaborate with other team members and help support internal customers and applications.
What You'll Do
· Support the evolution of Google Cloud capabilities within the organization
· Advocate for cloud best practices, strategies, patterns and innovative technologies
· Build repeatable architecture patterns, blueprints and solutions to enable enterprise workloads across Google Cloud
· Oversee architecture governance, application reviews and compliance tollgates for Google Cloud deployments
· Craft high-quality, concise documentation to support frameworks, strategies and execution plans
· Provide thought leadership, mentorship and guidance to stakeholders and teams
· Drive continuous improvements within the Cloud Architecture function
Requirements
· Comprehensive understanding of Google Cloud Platform services and products backed by 10+ years of experience as a System Engineer.
· At least one of GCP SA, DevOps, and/or Security certification.
· Knowledge and Hands-on experience of Resource Management on Google Cloud and expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM)
· Knowledge and Hands-on experience in networking and security services within the Google Cloud environment (Shared VPC, NCC, Interconnect, Load Balancing, Firewalling, CDN, Cloud Armor, etc.)
· Knowledge and Hands-on experience with compute services such as Google Compute Engine (GCE), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, etc.
· Knowledge and Hands-on experience with GCP database technologies including solutions like Cloud SQL, Alloy DB and Big Query.
· Knowledge and Hands-on experience with GCP CI/CD capabilities. Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, etc.
· Experience with data ingestion, transformation and orchestration tools such as Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Dataflow and Cloud Composer.
· Expertise in monitoring, logging and alerting using Google Cloud Operations Suite tools
· Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and managing Google Cloud Landing Zones
· Deep knowledge of Cloud Architecture best practices ensuring reliability, scalability, security and operational efficiency
· Familiarity with building repeatable patterns and blueprints for managing workloads on Google Cloud using automation tools such as Terraform.
Skills:
· Hands-on Unix/Linux Engineer background
· Hands-on CI/CD expertise
· Hands-on Terraform IaC background
· Experience with SRE practices: knowledge of concepts and tools such as SLA, SLI, SLO, RCA, and postmortems to ensure system reliability and availability
· Hands-on Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
