Job description
- Implement, configure, and maintain security technologies to protect employees, customers, data, networks, and other organizational assets.
- Monitor security systems, logs, and alerts to identify, investigate, and respond to potential security incidents.
- Administer and support network security platforms, including firewalls and remote access solutions.
- Perform vulnerability scanning, analysis, and remediation activities using tools such as Tenable.io or Nessus.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions, including MFA and SSO.
- Support compliance efforts by gathering evidence, implementing required controls, and remediating audit findings.
- Conduct regular access reviews and system log reviews to ensure adherence to security policies.
- Develop, update, and maintain technical security documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to ensure new and existing systems are implemented securely.
- Provide advanced technical support for security related incidents and service requests.
- Assist with the administration and testing of backup and recovery processes.
- Participate in security awareness initiatives and help reinforce secure behaviors across the organization.
- Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies, and recommend improvements as appropriate.
Requirements
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Engineer to help secure the organization's infrastructure, communications, and data. This role is responsible for implementing, operating, and continuously improving security controls across on-premises and cloud environments. The Security Engineer works closely with the IT Security Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure systems are designed, deployed, and maintained with security best practices in mind. This position is hands-on, technical, and focused on execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the organization's cybersecurity posture. This position is full-time and based in the Kansas City, Missouri area., * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5+ years of hands- on experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, network engineering, or a related technical role.
- Experience administering and supporting enterprise security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), including core security concepts and services.
- Experience with scripting or automation using tools such as Python or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices (e.g., least privilege, defense in depth, zero trust).
- Experience creating or maintaining technical security documentation and procedures.
- Professional certifications in cybersecurity, networking, or cloud technologies are preferred.
- Telecommunications or service provider industry experience is a plus.
