Job description
This is a hands-on, field-based technician role focused on installing IP phones across 88 different locations. The technician will be part of a team of at least two, working 90% of the time in pairs, and will serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 issues. This is the first of several resources the client will need as multiple projects ramp up simultaneously over a 30 45-day period., * Install phones across 88 different locations
- Lead a small team of technicians
- Proactively communicate with Project Managers (PMs)
- Serve as escalation point for Tier 1 technicians
- Perform rack and stack (Layer 1) tasks
- Set up end user devices
- Troubleshoot and describe error messages to engineers
- Perform basic troubleshooting of cabling and wall jacks
- Patch in IDF/MDF rooms
- Work in a team of 2 approximately 90% of the time
- Understand and follow floor plans
- Willing to travel as required across project locations
Requirements
Do you have experience in VoIP?, * Low-level technician capabilities
- Ability to stand/be on feet for 8 hours per day
- Ability to crawl under desks or access tight spaces
- Able to lift 30 lbs
- Flexible schedule (nights/weekends)
- Self-starter; follows directions
- Speaks and understands English
- Understands floor plans
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic understanding of networking/IP telephony
- Professional demeanor and reliability
- Good communication skills
- Team player
- Experience installing IP phones in enterprise environments
- Working knowledge of VoIP phone configuration
- Familiar with IDF/MDF rooms and patching
- Basic troubleshooting of cabling/wall jacks
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)
- Proactive communication with PMs
- Flexible and adaptive
- Right attitude/professionalism; willingness to learn
- No shorts or flip flops (dress code compliance required), * No degree requirement
- No certifications required, * Experience installing IP phones in enterprise environments
- Tier 1 engineer experience
- Willing to travel, * Must be able to stand/be on feet for 8 hours per day
- Must be able to crawl under desks or access tight spaces
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
- Flexible schedule required nights and weekends possible
- Possibly 2 hours of overtime per day
