Job description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research & Product Innovation team. In this role, you will focus on rapid prototyping of software for prospective customers, and support internal product development. This position is ideal for a full-stack engineer with a strong background in TypeScript, Node.js, and modern web development frameworks and proficiency in Rust.
You should be comfortable owning complex features end-to-end and able to thrive in a fast-paced, experimental environment. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring 3 days per week onsite in one of our offices (Nashville or Tampa). What will you do?
- Rapidly design and implement software prototypes, from Back End APIs to Front End UIs
- Build intuitive, responsive interfaces using modern frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
- Architect scalable and efficient Back End systems using Node.js and TypeScript, and Rust where appropriate
- Design and model data structures that support flexible, performant applications
- Configure and integrate appropriate databases and external services
- Lead feature development and guide team members on best practices
- Make technology and architecture decisions for new prototypes and experiments
- Participate in code reviews, team planning, and technical discussions
- Stay current with emerging technologies in web development and full-stack engineering
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven expertise with TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience with Rust, including a strong understanding of the Rust type system (traits, generics, enums, and pattern matching), ownership and borrowing semantics, lifetimes and memory safety guarantees, building concurrent/asynchronous systems
- Strong experience with React, Vue, or Angular
- Full-stack development experience, including Back End API design and Front End UI implementation
- Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with REST APIs, WebSockets, and event-driven systems
- Experience with Git and version control workflows
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, evaluate, and apply new technologies in a fast-paced, experimental environment
- Must be local to Nashville, TN or McLean, VA and available to work in-office Tue-Thu
- Ability to travel up to 20%, * Master's degree in a technical field
- 7+ years of experience on large-scale software systems
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization
- Familiarity with ML concepts and tools
- Exposure to .NET (C#) or Rust
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other DevOps tools
