Job description

HR Technology Architect - Payroll & Financial Integrated Systems Full-time | On-site | Senior / Lead | Construction & Services | Workday Environment At Waldinger, we build the infrastructure that keeps communities running - and we want the systems powering our people to be just as strong. This is a rare seat at the table: you won't maintain someone else's architecture - you'll shape it. If you've spent years mastering payroll systems and integrations and you're ready to own a complex, enterprise-scale ecosystem, we built this role for you. Workday experience is a strong plus. Whether you hold a Workday Pro Payroll certification or have hands-on exposure to Workday payroll and integrations, your platform knowledge will make an immediate impact here.

What You'll Own

  • End-to-end payroll architecture: Design and validate integrated payroll solutions - data flows, calculations, compliance controls, and financial alignment - built to scale.
  • System optimization & configuration: Lead configuration, testing, and validation for complex payroll scenarios. Redesign workflows to improve reliability, speed, and visibility.
  • Senior escalation & issue resolution: Be the last line of defense for complex payroll and integration issues. Diagnose root causes across systems, protect compliance, and maintain continuity.
  • Mentorship & technical leadership: Grow analysts and technical teammates. Establish design patterns, documentation standards, and governance that outlast any single project.
  • Continuous improvement: Spot opportunities to cut manual effort, improve financial alignment, and bring in emerging technology that creates real organizational value.

Requirements

  • Experience: 8-10+ years in HR technology, payroll systems, or enterprise / ERP platforms
  • Education: Bachelor's in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting/Finance, or a related field - preferred
  • Certifications: CPP, Workday Pro Payroll, or equivalent HRIS / platform certification - preferred
  • Workday: Hands-on experience or meaningful exposure to Workday Payroll - a strong differentiator
