Job description

Underground Contractors, Inc. (UCI) is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee underground and aerial fiber optic construction projects.

This leadership role is responsible for managing multiple crews, driving production, ensuring quality and safety standards, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and inspectors. The ideal candidate brings telecommunications construction experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment., * Manage and supervise multiple Foremen and field crews (underground & aerial fiber)

  • Oversee fiber optic construction projects from planning through completion
  • Schedule and coordinate all jobs within assigned territory
  • Ensure projects meet production goals, quality standards, and profitability targets
  • Communicate with customers, inspectors, and project stakeholders
  • Manage and oversee subcontractors and vendors
  • Troubleshoot field issues and keep crews on schedule
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and labor resources
  • Ensure compliance with Miss Dig (811) requirements prior to underground work
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, prints, and engineering plans
  • Complete job reporting, documentation, and assist with invoicing processes

Requirements

  • Management-level experience in telecommunications construction (required)
  • Experience with underground and/or aerial fiber optic projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple crews and job sites simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge of utility locating (Miss Dig / 811 processes)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and work prints
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with major telecommunications providers
  • CDL-A License (a plus)
  • Experience managing subcontractors and large-scale projects
