Job description
Crusoe is seeking a Staff VMware Administrator/Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise virtualization and hybrid cloud environments. You will be responsible for the health, security, and scalability of our mission-critical infrastructure, leveraging modern DevOps practices and automation to minimize manual intervention., * Infrastructure Design & Orchestration: Architect and deploy robust VMware solutions (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN) ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Hybrid Cloud Integration: Manage seamless integration between on-premises data centers.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the migration to subscription-based models (e.g., VMware Cloud Foundation) and manage product suite updates.
- Automation: Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using PowerCLI, Temporal, Terraform, or Ansible to automate provisioning and patching.
- Performance & Observability: Develop and utilize AI-powered monitoring tools (e.g., VMware Aria Operations) to predict performance bottlenecks and ensure maximum uptime.
- Security & Compliance: Implement zero-trust principles and system hardening to meet industry standards like NIST or STIGs.
Requirements
- Virtualization Core: Expert-level knowledge of vSphere 8.x+, vCenter Server, and vSAN.
- Network & Security: Proficiency in NSX-T/NSX-V, load balancing, and firewall configuration within virtualized layers.
- Automation & Scripting: Strong PowerShell/PowerCLI and Python skills; experience with Ansible or Terraform.
- Storage: Deep understanding of SAN/NAS technologies and software-defined storage.
- Cloud Native: Familiarity with VMware Tanzu or Kubernetes for managing containerized workloads.
- Professional Tenure: 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or technology architecture, with a heavy focus on VMware environments.
- Enterprise Scale: Proven track record of managing 500+ virtual machines across multiple global data centers.
- Communication: Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to evaluate industry trends and recommend platform strategies to reduce vendor lock-in.
- Mentorship: Experience guiding junior engineers and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Migration Projects: Led at least one major site-to-site migration or a transition from on-prem to hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Disaster Recovery: Hands-on experience designing and testing Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or similar high-availability solutions.
- Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Advanced Professional (VCAP); Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator); Security certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP).

Compensation Range
Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $209,000 -$253,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
