Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Database Administrator (Oracle) to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard. Responsibilities

  • Administer, secure, and optimize enterprise Oracle database platforms across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Lead Oracle schema design, PL/SQL development, data modeling, partitioning, performance tuning, and query optimization for mission-critical workloads.
  • Manage Oracle lifecycle activities: RMAN backups, Data Guard replication, recovery operations, RAC/ASM administration, Exadata and hybrid Oracle deployments.
  • Apply DISA STIGs and Oracle-specific security controls; coordinate vulnerability scanning, patching cycles, and RMF/FISMA evidence collection.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate complex Oracle issues (performance bottlenecks, incidents, vulnerabilities) and lead forensic/incident support with SOC/CIRT.
  • Coordinate consolidation, licensing optimization, and migration strategies for Oracle environments (on-prem to cloud/hybrid).
  • Implement automation and operational tooling for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Produce architecture/runbooks, maintenance plans, audit evidence, and decision-grade briefings for program leadership.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and enforce configuration management, change control, and high-availability practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering; OR
  • Relevant DoD/military training (examples: Oracle University DB Admin courses (required); DISA (421) Training); OR
  • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional (OCP) (required); Security+; Cloud+; GSEC; SSCP).
  • Required experience and skills:
  • Oracle DBA/database administration experience with at least 3 years managing large-scale, enterprise Oracle environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, ASM, Exadata administration, PL/SQL, partitioning, and advanced performance tuning.
  • Proven experience applying DISA STIGs, supporting RMF/ATO evidence requirements, and coordinating patching/vulnerability remediation in DoD or regulated contexts.
  • Strong scripting/automation skills (Shell, Python, SQL), monitoring/observability tool proficiency, and backup/recovery strategy design.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce audit-quality documentation, runbooks, and migration/consolidation plans.
  • Desired:
  • Prior DoD/ARNG/enterprise Oracle DBA experience and familiarity with cloud Oracle services and hybrid migration patterns.
  • Experience optimizing Oracle licensing and managing Exadata or similar engineered systems.

This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
