Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to join our organization's IT Data Analytics team. This role is responsible for helping to develop, implement, and maintain an enterprise data governance framework. The Data Governance Lead will ensure that data quality policies, standards, and procedures are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will be responsible for the oversight, management, and ongoing maintenance of Microsoft Purview, our enterprise data governance platform, which is tightly integrated with Microsoft Fabric, our enterprise data analytics platform., * Data Governance Framework - Help design and deploy an enterprise-wide data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures for data quality and data management.

  • Policy and Standards Alignment - Ensure data governance policies and standards are current, comprehensive, and aligned with business goals, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with business units, IT, compliance, and legal teams to drive adoption of data governance initiatives and foster a culture of data stewardship.
  • Data Quality Management - Establish processes for monitoring, measuring, and improving data quality across the organization.
  • Microsoft Purview Administration - Manage and maintain Microsoft Purview, including configuration, user access, metadata management, and integration with enterprise systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensure data governance practices support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies (such as FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Training and Awareness - Develop and deliver training programs and awareness campaigns to promote data governance and quality practices.
  • Continuous Improvement - Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to evolve the data governance framework and tools.
  • Reporting and Program Insights - Provide regular updates and reports to senior management regarding data governance activities, compliance status, and data quality metrics.

Generally, M-F, 8am - 5pm

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. Five years of experience in data governance, data quality, or related roles within large enterprises.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks and policies.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or similar enterprise data governance tools.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA) and industry standards for data management.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Certification in data governance or data management (such as CDMP, DGSP) is a plus., * Master's Degree in related field.

  • Certified Data Management Professional or other applicable certifications.

  • Experience in Microsoft Purview.
