Alamon is seeking a Telecommunications Technician Level 1 to support the Network Services Department as an entry-level, traveling field resource. This role is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in telecommunications. No prior experience is required-Alamon is willing to train motivated candidates. New hires will participate in a fully-paid, 6-8 week, hands-on training program in the Dallas, TX market, where they will gain foundational skills in fiber optics, equipment installation, and safety practices before being assigned to field projects. Travel & Expenses: All required travel expenses are fully covered by the company, including flights, car rental, hotel accommodation, and daily food allowance while traveling., Under the guidance of experienced lead technicians, a Level 1 Technician will assist in the installation and maintenance of critical network infrastructure at Regen Sites, MSOs, and Data Centers.
- Install & Support: Assist with the setup of fiber optic systems and high-end telecom equipment (Ciena, Nokia, Infinera).
- Technical Tasks: Learn to use specialized tools for cabling, rack mounting, and equipment testing.
- Field Operations: Work in diverse environments ranging from climate-controlled data centers to outdoor utility sites.
- Safety First: Maintain a commitment to Alamon's safety standards and government regulations (OSHA).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned., * The Level 1 Telecommunication Technician position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide, travel is required.
- Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
- Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
- Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
- When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
- This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Travel Requirements:
- This position requires extensive travel.
- Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.
Requirements
- Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
- Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
- Possess a current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
- Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
- Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
- Ability to work at different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
- Must be able to travel to all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching.
- Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cables such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
- Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment., * High school Diploma or GED preferred.
- Communicate effectively, including proficiency in written and verbal communications, with strong listening skills.
- Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications: Email, Excel, Word, OneDrive.
