Job description

This position is for a Senior Platform Engineer. You will be working closely with a talented team to deliver a complex software application into operations. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to grow and hone your skills with other talented members at ARKA. Our ideal candidate is an Infrastructure/DevOps Engineer who is a hard charging self-starter that can come onto a team and begin to produce quickly. You should have a basic understanding of Kubernetes, AWS, containerization, automated test, and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

  • BS in computer science or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of Infrastructure/DevOps experience
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and engage with virtual or remote teams
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes and deploying applications to Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience with using Helm charts to deploy software to Kubernetes clusters (ie. Argo CD)
  • Strong experience with at least one of the major cloud platforms (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure)
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Gitlab, Jenkins, Github Actions, etc)
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, GitHub workflows)
  • IAT Level II or III certification (i.e. CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CASP+)
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with fully adjudicated Full Scope polygraph
  • Travel: 25% to Herndon, VA, when needed to support customer onsite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Scrum and Agile software development methodology
  • Experience with container tools (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration
  • Experience delivering microservices in Kubernetes-based systems
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Basic understanding of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana or similar, This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to use hands to keyboard, communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. This would require the ability to move around the campus and occasionally move/lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
