Job description
- Monitoring and DevOps tasks relating to modern HPC systems within a hybrid cloud setup to ensure high availability and performance
- Implementing, further developing and operating monitoring, logging and deployment solutions, as well as providing hardware-related system support
- Creating documentation and supporting researchers in project planning, development and testing; promoting best practice in scientific computing, programming and efficient utilisation of HPC resources
- Anticipating new HPC trends, tools and architectures for our hybrid cloud stack and recommending improvements or adaptations to the technology that meet the requirements of both academic teaching and research, and industry
Requirements
- Completed, subject-relevant diploma or master's degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. Specialised A-Level-Diploma with specialist knowledge or relevant professional experience)
- Experience in the automation of monitoring, maintenance and operation
- Good programming and scripting skills (minimum: Python, a performance-oriented, compiled programming language, and Unix/Linux incl. Bash)
- Several years' experience in supporting HPC and/or cloud solutions (OpenStack, Kubernetes, etc.) would be an advantage
- Experience in the deployment of hybrid systems is advantageous
- Experience with user support for technical systems (especially with non-classical HPC user groups) is advantageous
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Independent and structured working style, coupled with a high level of willingness to learn
- Willingness to familiarise yourself with new tasks and technologies
- High level of reliability
- Customer- and service-oriented
- Very good knowledge of German and English
