Job description
Monks is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and hands-on UI Designer to lead the creation of exceptional digital products and design systems for some of the world's highest-profile brands.
In this role, you won't just be "making things look pretty." You will be the architect of a major platform migration and component library overhaul for a large Fashion & Luxury brand. We need someone who has a deep love for design foundations and the technical rigor to build scalable systems that last. AI is at the forefront of our team processes and is used as a powerful design tool - curiosity and innovation are part of our DNA., * Craft: Translate brand values, creative concepts, UX documentation and user-stories into ground-breaking visual & functional design solutions. Go above and beyond the original brief to push what's possible on both a creative and technical level. Design and customize existing components to align with rigorous brand standards, ensuring a perfect balance between visual flair and functional utility.
- Problem-Solve: Employ your problem-solving skills and full stack of design solutions to guide projects from start, finish and everywhere in between to ensure the highest quality of the delivery.
- Collaborate: Tackle high-end projects in collaboration with colleagues and clients alike.
- Contribute to process: Based on your experience and expertise, you can judge the quality of the user experience, and explain what needs to be achieved to make it better.
- Maintain Quality: Continuously enhance and push towards industry-leading execution, from concept through realisation.
- Audit & Strategise: Perform initial audits of existing web ecosystems to inform business requirements. You will determine the most efficient approach for delivering new component libraries and defining complex migration strategies.
- System Architecture: Establish the initial design library template frameworks from the ground up, ensuring they are flexible, scalable, and technically sound.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Lead and facilitate workshops with brand stakeholders to extract core brand guidelines and translate them into digital-first design principles.
- Prototyping: Deliver high-fidelity, fully designed Figma prototypes that serve as the "North Star" for our development teams.
- Narrative Building: Shape and articulate convincing creative narratives and critical design rationale. You'll present with passion to both internal teams and external stakeholders, substantiating your work with logic and data.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Usability?, * Experience: ~5+ years of relevant experience in digital design (web, app, and mobile). You have a portfolio that proves your visual prowess and your ability to handle complex system design.
- Precision: A thorough understanding of design fundamentals-typography, interaction design, usability, grid systems, and color theory. You notice the pixel that's out of place before anyone else does.
- Tooling Mastery: Expert-level command of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. You are also expected to have a strong drive to master emerging AI tools (such as Firefly, Claude Design, Claude Code, Chat GPT, Gemini) to optimise your workflow.
- Organisation: You are "system-minded." You know how to organise files, layers, and documentation so that any designer or developer can jump in without getting lost.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and a "feel" for the politics of advertising. You understand that the best work comes from a mix of healthy critique and team kudos
