Job description

Job Title: Research Associate - AI/Wearable Technology Specialist (PD-LIFE) School: School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent Systems Campus: Derry~Londonderry Salary: Research Grade 6/7 - £33,020 - £39,975 per annum, pro rata Closing Date: 02 June 2026 Reference Number: 042386

(Fixed term until 31 August 2029 / Part-time 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week))

  • THE ROLE -

The PD-LIFE project is an all-island emerging hub of excellence that unites researchers, clinicians, people with Parkinson's, and advocacy partners to transform the understanding and care of Parkinson's disease (PD) across Ireland. The postholder will be an integral part of a dynamic team, responsible for providing expertise in wearable technology and AI, and conducting high-quality research for the project stakeholders.

The project is supported by the North South Research Programme through the Shared Island Fund and administered by the Higher Education Authority.

  • ABOUT YOU
  1. You will hold a PhD, completed or near completion, with a thesis submitted in the area of Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  2. You will hold a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics or a closely related science-based discipline.
  3. You will have practical experience with wearable technologies such as IMU sensors, as well as analysing and pre-processing resultant datasets.
