Job description

A prestigious organisation in Surrey is seeking a hands-on IT Project Manager to deliver a small portfolio of technology projects spanning infrastructure, Azure and telephony. This is an initial six-month contract paying £550-£600 per day inside IR35, with hybrid working and an expectation of 1-2 days onsite in their surrey office. The role suits someone comfortable working at pace, able to create concise, actionable plans quickly, and experienced in running discovery activities to shape delivery before committing to implementation.

You will take ownership of a rolling programme/workstack across multiple technical initiatives, maintaining a forward view of upcoming change, dependencies, and sequencing. You'll work closely with IT and business stakeholders to create clear project proposals and/or business cases, ensuring scope, value, cost, risk, and delivery approach are well defined. You will own detailed end-to-end project planning, governance, reporting, RAID management and documentation, keeping delivery aligned to agreed milestones while proactively managing issues and escalations.

A core element of the role is demand and capacity management. You will conduct resource modelling and capacity planning to inform sequencing, accurately forecasting demand for the skillsets required across the portfolio. You will also bring strong horizon scanning capability, identifying emerging needs, constraints, and risks early so plans can be adjusted before delivery is impacted. Alongside internal coordination, you will manage third-party suppliers and vendors, controlling contracted delivery against agreed KPIs/SLAs and ensuring service providers remain accountable through structured governance and escalation.

Requirements

You will be responsible for budget planning, monitoring and control, including resource utilisation and any fixed or external costs. You'll keep stakeholders informed with clear and concise reporting, and you'll ensure documentation is strong enough to support audit requirements and operational handover. The delivery scope will include telephony initiatives, infrastructure and platform change, and cloud work across Azure, including IaaS and SaaS. A solid grounding in infrastructure and architecture concepts is important, as is the ability to communicate technical scope in clear business terms to a wide range of stakeholders.

To be successful, you will have proven experience managing a small portfolio of concurrent IT projects and a track record delivering across telephony, infrastructure and application-related change. You will bring strong Azure cloud knowledge and substantial experience managing and contracting third-party providers including cloud service providers, data centre suppliers and telecoms vendors. Strong contract management skills, excellent stakeholder communication, and the ability to produce clear project plans, reports and governance artefacts are essential. You should also be proficient with common delivery and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, SharePoint, MS Teams and Asana (or equivalent).
