Requirements
A fast-growing technology organisation is expanding its engineering team in the UK and is hiring .NET Developers to help build and scale an intelligent, cloud-based answer engine that uses semantic information recognition. The platform is designed to move beyond keyword search by interpreting relationships and meaning within content, generating answers directly from data. After several years of product development, the business is entering an aggressive growth phase and has opened a new UK office in the Dartford area, with remote working available for UK-based candidates.
You will join a modern product engineering environment where you'll contribute to building backend services, APIs, and cloud-ready application components using C# and the latest .NET ecosystem. The role will involve designing and developing scalable services, improving performance and reliability, and working collaboratively to deliver new features into production. You'll be part of an Agile team and will contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen maintainability, test coverage, and deployment confidence.
Day to day, you'll develop and enhance applications using .NET / .NET Core and ASP.NET, working with SQL Server to design efficient schemas, write performant queries, and implement reliable data access patterns. You'll help create and evolve RESTful APIs (e.g., Web API), contribute to service-to-service integrations, and support the move toward microservices-style architecture where appropriate. You'll also help troubleshoot and resolve defects, address bottlenecks, and support operational stability by improving observability, logging, and monitoring practices. As the platform grows, you'll have the opportunity to work on engineering challenges such as concurrency, throughput, search relevance, indexing strategies, and efficient data retrieval patterns.
The role is well suited to developers who already have strong fundamentals in C#, .NET and SQL Server, and who are keen to broaden their skill set across a modern full-stack and cloud-native toolkit. You will receive structured training and on-the-job exposure to a wide range of technologies, including .NET 9, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, and Vue.js. You'll also gain hands-on experience with microservices, container-friendly design patterns, and cloud platforms including Azure (and potentially AWS). Additional tooling and technologies mentioned within the environment include Web API, Entity Framework, Node.js, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and modern Agile engineering practices such as Scrum and Kanban, with a strong emphasis on quality approaches such as TDD and BDD.
To succeed, you should have commercial experience delivering software using .NET / .NET Core, ASP.NET (MVC or API), C# and SQL Server. You should be comfortable writing clean, maintainable code and be willing to work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements understanding and solution design through build, test, release, and support. You'll ideally have exposure to Agile delivery methods, experience collaborating closely with other engineers, and an interest in learning newer technologies and improving engineering standards. Experience with microservices, cloud services, modern JavaScript frameworks, automated testing, CI/CD, or search/indexing technologies will be beneficial, but the employer is also explicitly offering training and development in these areas.
Benefits & conditions
The package includes a base salary of £45,000-£60,000 plus a bonus structure split between personal and company performance. You'll also receive a generous pension scheme and private healthcare, alongside an annual training allowance (advertised at £10,000) to support continuous learning and professional development. Holiday entitlement is strong, with 27 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) plus your birthday off, and flexible working hours to support work-life balance. Additional benefits include free lunch, free gym membership, and regular team activities, including team-building days. The role also includes lifestyle perks such as Friday afternoon team BBQs during the summer months (with early finishes), plus access to a gaming lounge-style office environment. There is also an international exchange opportunity with European offices, including employer-funded accommodation for you and your family for up to six weeks, depending on eligibility and programme
