Job description
The Data Changes team is responsible for maintaining and updating employee personal data for the entire Network Rail workforce of circa 43,000 colleagues, ensuring data accuracy, integrity and compliance across all people systems.
As an Area Support Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring operational performance, data quality and control adherence, supporting delivery against agreed KPIs and SLAs, and embedding functional best practice in line with statutory, regulatory, contractual, customs & excise and Network Rail group policies.
You will be responsible for delivering shared service activity efficiently and consistently, while proactively improving processes, controls and ways of working within the Data Changes operation.
This role is in the Data Changes team as a Senior Data Changes Team Lead
In addition, you will:

Act as the subject matter expert for operational escalations, providing expert guidance and leading the upskilling and development of colleagues to improve capability, confidence and performance across the Data Changes team.

Monitor service performance, providing constructive feedback to individuals and teams, and escalating risks or concerns to the Data Changes Team Manager where appropriate.

Build deep knowledge and understanding of the operation, documenting end to end processes, driving standardisation, and ensuring controls and procedures are clearly understood and consistently applied.

Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and data flows, coaching team members to challenge existing ways of working and contribute to continuous improvement.

Develop a strong understanding of the wider Shared Services operation, working collaboratively with analysts across the centre to share knowledge, align best practice and strengthen the wider SME community.

Play an active role within the analyst peer group, supporting cross functional initiatives and helping to embed learning, innovation and continuous improvement across the Shared Service Centre.

Operate fully within the agreed control framework, embedding a strong control mindset and regularly reviewing adherence. Where gaps or risks are identified, take ownership to define, socialise and embed improvements, working collaboratively to reduce both risk and the cost of control.

Requirements
What skills and experience will you need to succeed?
- You will bring a strong mix of data capability, continuous improvement experience and stakeholder engagement, with the confidence to influence and improve service delivery in a complex, high volume environment.
- Confidence and proficiency in data management and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel and other MI tools, using data to drive insight, improve quality and streamline operations
Essential skills and experience include:
- Proven analytical capability, including experience using Microsoft Excel and Power BI/reporting tools
- Demonstrable experience of managing process improvements and improvement projects within a high volume, operational environment.
- Exceptional customer focus with excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to influence, network and engage with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience leading service, process and system improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally.
- Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills at senior management level.
- Experience managing, leading and motivating large multi-disciplined teams
- Experience of delivering continuous improvement programmes

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of managing improvement projects alongside high volume transactional activity.

Salary - £27,960 per annum
Location - Hybrid (3 days a week) in our Manchester Square One office
