Job description
You will work hands-on with commercial devices, AI models, performance analysis tools, and partner ecosystems to investigate how next-generation AI workloads execute on Arm-based systems. You will also help evaluate and shape the future of Arm's Neural Graphics Project (NGP), exploring how it compares with NPUs and other AI acceleration technologies across graphics and non-graphics workloads. If you are curious about how computers work, passionate about artificial intelligence and performance, and enjoy investigating complex technical problems, this role offers a rare opportunity. It focuses on the intersection of hardware, software, graphics, and AI.
Whatcould you be doing as a Graduate in our team?
- Analyse the performance of AI and graphics workloads on mobile phones, laptops, and edge devices
- Investigate how competitive Arm AI acceleration technologies are compared to alternative solutions
- Explore how emerging workloads such as generative AI, agentic AI, computer vision, and multimodal AI execute on real systems
- Build and evaluate representative AI applications and benchmarks
- Profile systems to identify CPU, GPU, memory, and system bottlenecks
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external ecosystem partners to optimise software and workloads
- Study how real users interact with AI-enabled devices and help shape future performance requirements
- Develop tools, scripts, and analysis pipelines to process workload and performance data
- Help define what future client AI experiences should look like on Arm-based platforms
This role gives you exposure to some of the most important technology shifts happening today! You will join a collaborative team that values curiosity, experimentation, and technical depth.
Requirements
- Hold, or be on track to hold, a degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related subject. We care strongly about curiosity, technical foundations, and the willingness to learn.
- Are curious about computing systems and how hardware and software work together to create real-world experiences
- Understand computer systems concepts such as operating systems, processors, memory, graphics, and system architecture, with strong problem-solving skills
- Have some experience with Python, C/C++, or similar languages, and an interest in AI/ML, graphics, performance engineering, and data analysis
Qualities that will help your application stand out:
Experience in any of the following areas would be valuable:
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, or similar
- Knowledge of Android, Linux, or embedded software development
- Exposure to GPU, NPU, accelerator technologies, or performance optimisation
- Interest in computer graphics, computer vision, or modern AI workloads
- Experience with personal technical projects or contributions to open-source software
Benefits & conditions
You'll receive a starting salary of £47K (Bachelor level) or £48K (Master level), alongside a comprehensive rewards package. As you develop in role, you'll have clear opportunities to progress within the salary range at Arm. With mid-year and year-end reviews, you'll have two formal progression windows each year, recognising your growth.
You can also attend our "Grad-teach-Grads" workshops, guest speaker series, and social events to expand your knowledge. If you'd like to get more involved, you can join the Graduate Committee to further develop your planning, networking, and coordination skills.
