Job description
As a Senior NetDevOps Engineer, you will be a skilled Practitioner and a role model in Infrastructure solutions.
Responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality Infrastructure products.
You will assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.
You will also have the ongoing responsibility for the full range of products that make up Network Services.
Working in collaboration with a range of internal/external partners, stakeholders and customers you will ensure the operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability, and quality of DWP Networks.
Along with actively managing the work backlog and develop reliability improvements as well as leading initiatives to develop the automation of low-value tasks balanced against project delivery demands., As a Senior NetDevOps Engineer, you will:
Be involved in influencing and developing our NetDevOps culture in the team as we increase our automation capabilities and transition to new ways of working.
Help to develop and modernise Network Services applications and security posture and the ways we deliver to our customers with speed and consistency.
Be working with engineers with cloud and on-premise specialisations and be an early contributor to automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Have responsibilities across products and services with different delivery and improvement models, including formal project management, ITIL, and agile methodologies.
Coach and mentor junior engineers by sharing best practices in automation, network design, and service delivery, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration to build future capability within the team.
Have responsibility across the full-service management lifecycle, including:
Lead with impact manage and improve the work backlog, drive reliability enhancements and lead automation initiatives that free up time for what really matters.
Design with purpose create secure, high-availability hybrid cloud connectivity solutions across AWS, Azure, and OCI.
Deliver with confidence implement complex technical solutions, manage dependencies and risks and see projects through to successful delivery.
Communicate with influence build strong relationships across engineering and leading continuous feedback processes relating to services and ways of working.
Person specification

- Lead Criterion - Infrastructure as Code, continuous delivery pipelines, automation design, including working collaboratively with an object-oriented programming language (such as Python) and shared Git repositories.
- Designing, documenting, implementing, administering, and supporting infrastructure technologies, solutions and services.
- Taking accountability of issues that occur, is proactive in searching for potential problems, and ensures effective prevention and remediation.
- Core networking infrastructure knowledge, and in-depth familiarity with technologies covering the range of criteria above.

Hybrid Working
This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
If a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for the role and for you, you will normally be required to spend a minimum of 60% of your contracted working hours from your DWP office.

Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £57,946 to £73,205.
The maximum salary for the grade is £68,205, however a Digital Allowance of up to £5,000 per annum is available for exceptional candidates. Digital Allowance is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and is classed as a temporary allowance. It is reviewed annually where it could be retained, amended, or removed.
Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer will maintain their current substantive salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion will move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or receive a 10% increase applied to their current substantive salary, whichever is greater.
Any temporary allowances that you are currently in receipt of will not form part of the calculation to determine your pay. Any allowances that are in payment will cease when you move into your new role.
