Cloud Database Engineer - (Cloud, Azure, DBA, Database, Engineering, SQL, Postgres, Cosmos, IaC, Automation) - Permanent - Remote

Are you a Cloud Database Engineer who actually enjoys ownership, automation, and building resilient database platforms properly rather than endlessly firefighting legacy issues?

This is an opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its Azure cloud platform, automation capability, and database estate across critical production systems operating in a true 24/7 environment.

You'll work across modern cloud infrastructure, high-availability database environments, Infrastructure as Code, automation, monitoring, and operational improvement projects with real technical autonomy., * Terraform

The Cloud Database Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining cloud and on-prem database environments
  • Supporting critical 24/7 production systems
  • Improving database performance, availability, and resilience
  • Building automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions
  • Implementing and improving monitoring across database platforms
  • Managing backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and maintenance processes
  • Supporting Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments
  • Working across PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, MySQL, and SQL Server estates
  • Managing upgrades, patching, replication, and database optimisation
  • Identifying opportunities for automation and operational improvement
  • Supporting engineering teams with database best practices and design guidance
  • Leading technical solutions across complex environments

Requirements

  • Previous experience within in a similar role is vital, we require someone to hit the ground running.
  • Extensive Database experience, focusing on PostgreSQL, MySQL Server and CosmosDB
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Automation
  • Database monitoring and performance tuning
  • SQL replication
  • Deep Azure background
  • Patching, upgrades and maintenance
  • High availability database environments
