Serco seeks a Simulation Systems and Test Engineer for its Combat Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (CAF DMO) 3.0 program in Hampton, VA. The CAF DMO 3.0 program, via its Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON), provides world-class integration training in large force and small team formats to combat units around the globe against cutting-edge threats in a boundless virtual battlespace. You will be part of a focused team of engineers to perform test, integration, and evaluation of disparate M&S systems and applications to support 5th and 6th generation training interoperability.
The team will work closely with the DoD customer and other Serco teams at Langley AFB and Orlando, FL to deliver quality test services.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer a DoD Secret Security clearance.
In this role, you will:
- Support simulation system and application integration, evaluation, and interoperability test to support DMON and JSE training operations.
- Use industry-standard tools for simulation test and evaluation to include Wireshark, simulation protocol analysis, and GFE and Commercial Computer Generated Forces (CGFs).
- Assist in detailed analysis of network and computational system performance including latency, bandwidth, jitter, and system occupancy measures.
- Help develop and maintain test plans and procedures to document and drive test activities.
- Draft comprehensive test reports based on completed integration, test, evaluation, and verification tasks performed.
- Assist in the development of CONOPS and multiple COAs for implementation and deployment of the evaluated simulation capabilities.
- Contribute to other areas of the engineering life cycle to include requirements review and assessment, training operations support, and basic system administration functions.
- Produce well-defined, concise, and directed test procedures and test cases under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support program and team processes by using tools from the Atlassian Suite of products to include JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and X-Ray.
- Participate in peer reviews, test bed maintenance and updates, and programming, testing, and debugging activities.
- Write and maintain scripts and support application (PowerShell, Cygwin, VBasic, etc.) programs, to enable efficiencies in test artifact creation and task execution.
- Help identify production and non-production application issues, assist in developing solutions, and implement necessary changes.
Requirements
- An active DoD Secret Security clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and SAP/SAR.
- A Bachelor's degree in an applicable STEM curriculum (e.g., Data Analysis, System Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or similar.
- 5 years of engineering experience performing test, integration, SW development, or embedded systems engineering activities.
- Experience supporting DoD customers and personnel in a technical capacity.
- Familiarity or experience with development, test and evaluation of military training or operational systems.
- Must possess, or obtain within six months, a DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher (i.e. Security+, CySA+, CISSP).
- The ability to travel up to 10%.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Familiarity with Military training systems, products, and capabilities.
- Exposure to or experience in M&S development, test, and integration.
- Knowledge of or experience with the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).
- Possess or obtain within six months, a Linux OS certification (i.e., Linux+, RHCSA etc.).
- Understanding or familiarity with DIS IEEE1278.1 or HLA IEEE 1516 protocols.
