Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Asset Management Technician to support a 4-month contract within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role focuses on the inventory, decommissioning, and secure disposal of IT assets across infrastructure environments that include servers, printers, and related hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience working in regulated environments and demonstrate strong attention to detail, accountability, and strict adherence to security and compliance standards.

Note: An active Secret Clearance is required for this position., Conduct comprehensive asset inventory of IT equipment within a secured environment Identify, track, and prepare assets for decommissioning, removal, and disposal Perform hands-on removal of hardware, including servers, printers, and peripheral devices Accurately capture and record serial numbers, asset tags, and configuration data Maintain proper serialization, labeling, and chain-of-custody documentation Support secure disposition processes, ensuring compliance with DoD and organizational policies Coordinate with internal stakeholders to validate inventory records and asset status Update asset data in asset management systems or CMDB tools Ensure adherence to security protocols, data protection standards, and handling procedures Assist with audits and reporting requirements as needed

Requirements

Active Secret Security Clearance (required) Experience in IT asset management, inventory control, or hardware deployment/removal Hands-on experience working with enterprise IT equipment (servers, printers, network devices) Familiarity with secure or regulated environments Strong ability to accurately track and document asset and serial information High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to lift and move IT equipment as required Strong communication skills and ability to follow structured processes

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience supporting DoD or federal government environments Understanding of IT asset lifecycle management and secure disposal standards

Work Environment

Work performed in secure facilities, data centers, and technical environments Handling of servers, racks, printers, and related infrastructure May require standing, lifting, and physical movement of equipment
