Job description

As a member of the Lear Production System (LPS) team in the IT Shop Floor organization, you will be responsible for implementing and supporting the LPS suite of applications at several manufacturing plants in the North America region. LPS is a proprietary, Lear-developed global MES comprised of several interconnected applications that are integrated with many devices and machines on the plant floor to ensure quality products come off the production lines with complete traceability.You will also focus on innovation and improvements to the LPS system and deployment processes as we look forward to the next generation of the system to fit with the evolving needs of the business. Responsibilities

  • Implement and support the Lear Production System (LPS) - Lear's internally developed shop floor manufacturing software
  • Coordinate with plant and corporate engineering teams to understand the build process and utilize that understanding to configure and integrate LPS
  • Develop and manage project plans for implementation projects assigned to you
  • Support the pre-production testing and debugging of production lines
  • Identify necessary enhancements of the system and submit change requests to the LPS development team
  • Train the plant IT and engineering teams in the operation and configuration of the LPS applications
  • Provide troubleshooting support to plants on existing installations throughout the region as an expert of the system
  • Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of Plant and Corporate personnel
  • Build productive relationships with Lear colleagues, and provide knowledge, support, and expertise
  • Work with other technology experts to develop, implement, and optimize the operating environment to best achieve business results
  • Support Automation initiatives from an MES perspective
  • Travel when necessary, up to 50%, to support plant launches

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Motivated, self-starter that can actively listen, learn, and execute without much direction, but can also operate effectively as a team member
  • Positive attitude with the ability to stay professional and focused under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with logical troubleshooting mindset
  • Strong understanding of the Windows PC/Server environment
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written), with the ability to simplify and convey technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and management
  • Project Management experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing IT environment
  • Experience with MES (manufacturing execution systems)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP communication protocols
  • Knowledge of PLC & OPC functionality and capabilities
  • Experience with SQL server, SQL queries, triggers, and stored procedures
  • Experience configuring Windows server environments and thin client hardware
  • Knowledge of physical and logical networking concepts
  • Experience with virtual server environments
