Job description
- Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft, including hardware interface layers
- Implement software requirements derived from system-level specifications, ensuring traceability throughout the software development lifecycle
- Develop and execute software unit tests, integration tests, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test procedures to verify software functionality and performance
- Collaborate closely with avionics, systems, and propulsion engineers to define software interfaces and resolve cross-discipline technical issues
- Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and technical peer reviews to ensure quality and adherence to coding standards
- Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware/software integration issues in a lab and test environment, Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S.as a refugee or granted asylum.

- Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
- Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of professional experience in embedded software development
- Proficiency in C++programming in resource-constrained embedded environments
- Experience withPythondevelopment for tooling, test automation, or scripting in an engineering environment, * Experience developing flight software for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or other safety-critical aerospace systems
- Familiarity with software verification for mission and safety critical standards (DO178, NPR 7150.2, SMC-S-012)
- Experience withDevOps practicesincluding CI/CD pipeline development, automated testing frameworks, and configuration management tools such as Git, Jenkins, or equivalent
