Job description

job summary: The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficient operation of the organization's computer systems. This role involves planning, implementing, and maintaining IT infrastructure, providing technical support to end-users, and leading a team of systems administrators. The Senior Systems Administrator also plays a key role in identifying and implementing IT best practices and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures.

Works effectively and proactively as a senior systems administrator with the business community, external vendors, IT applications analysts and other IT colleagues during a project and on-going operational and technology work, contributing to the development of cohesive and cost-effective systems architecture and security and control of company IT assets.

responsibilities: System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Security Management:

  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
  • Conduct server and active directory hardening.
  • Set up alerting and logging for Entra ID.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems administrators, providing guidance and training.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to achieve organizational goals.

Technical Skills:

  • Provide technical expertise in the rollout of Microsoft Intune MFA
  • Provide technical expertise in Identity Access Management and Privileged Access Management rollout.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of IT documentation and knowledge base.

Project Management:

  • Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations, standards, and security policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation and configurations.

qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 7 - 10 years of experience in system administration, with a focus on progressively more complex responsibilities.

  • Server hardware and virtualization experience. VMware and Nutanix experience is a plus.

  • Management experience with antivirus, Entra ID, and MDM, as well as experience with CrowdStrike and Microsoft Intune.

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server), virtualization technologies, and cloud computing platforms.

  • Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools.

  • Project management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
