Job description

Wilson Trailer Company has a need for an additional Network Technician I. The Network Technician I assists with the physical layout, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the company's computer and voice network systems under the guidance of the Network Administrator II., Assists with the physical layout, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the company's computer and voice network systems under the guidance of the Network Administrator II. Helps ensure the stable operation of all networking systems and provides first-level support to resolve end-user hardware and software network problems in a timely fashion. Work is generally routine and performed under moderate supervision, following standard procedures and escalating complex issues to senior IT staff as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Network Hardware Support: Assists in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure hardware, including wired and wireless routers, switches, and cabling (Cat6, and fiber optic) under supervision.

  • Cabling and Connectivity: Performs basic network cabling tasks such as pulling, terminating, and organizing network cables and patch cords; ensures proper labeling and documentation of network connections.

  • Troubleshooting: Provides first-level troubleshooting for network connectivity issues; identifies and resolves routine problems with LAN/WAN connections, wireless access, and related network hardware, or escalates more complex problems to the Network Administrator.

  • Network Monitoring: Monitors network performance and data traffic using standard tools; reports anomalies, outages, or bandwidth issues to senior network staff to help maintain high-quality network performance.

  • VOIP Systems Support: Assists with the setup, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone systems and equipment, including installing IP phones and ensuring their proper connectivity and functionality.

  • Security Camera Systems: Helps set up and maintain security camera and surveillance systems by connecting cameras to the network, verifying feed connectivity, and working with senior staff to troubleshoot any camera network issues.

  • Video Conferencing Equipment: Supports video conferencing and meeting room network equipment (such as conference room routers or connectivity for meeting hardware) by ensuring proper network connections and assisting users with connectivity during meetings.

  • Network Maintenance: Performs routine network maintenance tasks as directed, such as applying firmware updates or patches to network devices, replacing or upgrading hardware components (e.g., network cards, cables), and maintaining uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for network equipment.

  • Documentation and Inventory: Assists in maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, cabling layouts, and equipment inventory. Helps with update network diagrams and records of changes to the network infrastructure.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety regulations?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, Age: Eighteen years of age minimum.

Education: Associate's degree in computer Networking, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience: 1-2 years of related experience in IT or networking and familiarity with networking concepts and hardware.

Computer Skills: Competent, able to use standard office software and basic network diagnostic tools effectively.

Certifications: None required. CompTIA Network+ or similar networking certification is a plus.

Communication: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate clearly and concisely using the English language.

Other Requirements: Able to wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, eye and ear protection, safety-toe boots) when on-site and safely operate man lifts and scissor lifts as needed. Must be able to travel to company worksites and drive a personal or company vehicle as required.
