Job description
- Develop, test, and deploy features for Waymo's next-generation offboard weather systems and infrastructure under the guidance of tech leads.
- Implement and maintain scalable data pipelines for weather data ingestion, processing, and storage.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of real-time and forecasting weather applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering partners to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions.
- Ensure high performance, code health, and stability for systems vital to safe fleet operations in diverse weather environments.
- Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and write comprehensive technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages.
- Strong foundation in computer science (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems).
- Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross-functional partners.
We prefer:
- Experience in C++
- Familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g. Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers, OnePlatform)
- Experience with payments, billing, or fintech systems where correctness is non-negotiable.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
