Job description
The Associate Scientist position is responsible for the design, construction, operation, and analysis of radars and for assisting with field deployments of these radars and associated meteorological instruments., * (65%) Perform theoretical studies, data analysis, hardware and software design, construction, and testing of radar systems in support of the DIF Division's radar observing program.
- (30%) Analyze and write scientific reports using data from PSL's Snow Level Radars and other instruments to advance precipitation science.
- (5%) Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with concentration in antennas and RF.
- Master's degree in Atmospheric Science or a related field.
- At least thirty years experience working with atmospheric profiling (non-scanning) radars.
- Experience with high power RF systems.
- Experience with low noise analog circuitry., * Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of CIRES's vision, mission and values.
- Ability to operate standard RF instrumentation.
- Ability to document and communicate results.
- Ability to organize and manage radar components.
- Ability to write computer programs for analyzing complex data.
- Ability to work independently on large tasks.
