design new methods and systems to reduce materials and labor time for assemblies. A major benefit of this position is the proclivity to have FUN! The job is exciting, filled with creativity, destruction and puzzlement allowing the optimal candidate to improve systems through direct input. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with complex multi-layered problems, analyze field project issues, troubleshoot through part design, and correct them in a timely manner. This is a prime opportunity with the advantage of creative, hands-on work which allow the candidate to expand their technical skills while contributing directly to new product development. Applications Engineer Responsibilities: Create mechanical diagrams, connection diagrams for solar structural systems, using CAD. Evaluate mechanical designs by using Finite Element Analysis and producing reports which include detailed results and analysis. Perform tolerance stack up analyses with respect to designed components and integration with existing components and their respective tolerances. Create project plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities. Create or coordinate the design and creation of photovoltaic (PV) structural systems, specifically system components. Evaluate specifications, recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to complete design goals. Develop design specifications and functional requirements for solar energy systems or components. Provide technical guidance and support to installation/engineering teams during installation, i.e., start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring. Create reports of findings for testing completed on designed components. Improve existing systems of data collection, organization of results and accessibility for analyses Monitor production samples from vendors, inspecting for quality of manufacturing and accuracy during First Article Inspections. Develop assembly methods and practices for installations and inspection of solar installation projects. * Test and evaluate photovoltaic (PV) Structural systems. Perform required cost reduction, stress and thermal analysis for solar systems. Assist management to complete task assignments in a timely manner, and request resources as needed. Tasks may include travel to other sites within driving distance with management or independently Ability to work both as a team member or independently, and at times able to work under pressure. Applications Engineer Qualification/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Applications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field Systems/Applications - Mechanical field experience strong background preferred Experience in Automotive manufacturing, Steel manufacturing highly preferred. Computer aided design CAD software: Autodesk Auto CAD/Autodesk Auto CAD LT, Solid Works Solid Works for modeling and running Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on new design work Ability to read, create, edit and review prints Ability to perform tolerance stack up analysis using prints and the interactions of separate assemblies. Analytical or scientific software experience including simulation software such as Math Works MATLAB Strong computer software, hardware and networking skills: MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Power Point & Word) Programing experience, C Language or Linux, PCB testing and troubleshooting is a plus but not critical. Some construction, solar and knowledge of key trades and tools preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent problem solving, critical thinking skills and ability to work independently High level of integrity with strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments High sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize to meet required deadlines Availability to travel as required by business needs Job Type: Full-time Location: Madrid Other benefits: Health Insurance, flex benefit and
