Functie omschrijving

Hey there! We're on the hunt for a talented Kotlin Developer with a flair for AI, and we've got an exciting opportunity with our client in Amsterdam. They're a really innovative retail company that's putting a lot of energy into tech advancements!

So, what will your day-to-day look like? You'll be diving into designing, building, and keeping up with Kotlin-based backend services, APIs, and all sorts of integrations. A big part of this role involves working on systems that power real-time chat experiences, including an AI-powered chatbot. You'll also be integrating Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities directly into production systems. We're looking for someone who can truly own projects from the initial design all the way through to deployment and keeping things running smoothly. Plus, you'll be building solid integrations with current systems and making sure data flows seamlessly. You'll get to team up with Product Owners, other engineers, and stakeholders to bring ideas to life, working on both AI-driven projects and more traditional backend initiatives.

As for where you'll be working, you'll be joining a top-notch retail organization that's seriously committed to technological innovation. You'll be part of a vibrant Agile product team in a fast-paced setting where keeping things scalable, reliable, and maintainable are super important., Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.

Do you want this too? Do you aspire to be the best version of yourself? We are delighted to support your development and invest in an environment where continuous learning is encouraged. We provide you with the freedom to innovate and take initiative. By offering numerous growth opportunities, we help you exceed your own expectations and excel in your work, enabling you to grow both personally and professionally.

Moreover, you can expect the following benefits based on a 36 or 40-hour working week:

  • An Employee Benefit Budget equivalent to 10% of your monthly income, which you can use according to your preferences. This budget allows you to purchase additional holiday days or make additional contributions to your pension.

Requirements

We're looking for someone with a solid background, ideally around 8 years of experience as a backend engineer. If you're exceptionally strong, we'd consider 5+ years.

You should be really comfortable working with Spring / Spring Boot.

We also value flexibility! It would be great if you're open to working with Python when the need arises, especially for exciting AI/LLM projects.

Experience with major cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP is a must.

You'll be diving into building and maintaining APIs, integrations, and backend services.

We'd like to see experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.

A true DevOps mindset is key - meaning you're comfortable with CI/CD, deployments, and really owning your services from start to finish.

Experience collaborating in Agile product teams is important to us.

We need strong analytical skills, and the ability to really shine when things get dynamic.

And finally, it would be awesome if you're comfortable leveraging modern developer tools like GitHub Copilot and other AI assistants effectively.

Benefits & conditions

  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of location-independent work, depending on the team's planning.
  • 100% reimbursement of commuting costs if you travel using public transportation. If you commute by car or motorcycle, you can opt for a commuting allowance.
  • A pension scheme with a contribution rate of only 5% from your side.

Let's get to know each other.
