Job description
Our OEM Client based in Gaydon, is searching for a Software and Systems Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31^st March 2027., + This role is to lead the diagnosis of software and systems issues in the development phase of automotive vehicle platforms.
- The successful candidate will be part of the Central Systems Integration team. CSI have the key responsibility of planning and coordinating delivery of software from multiple ECUs which when combined deliver the features and systems of the vehicle under development.
- This particular role within CSI will focus on issues resolution, specifically understanding root cause and assisting with resolution of systems and software issues within the vehicle.
- They will engage directly with complex issues to aid with data gathering, defining the problem, analysing the data with the intent to understand which team within the company owns the resolution of the problems., + Determine the level of urgency required during the first stages of investigations for an issue.
- Ensuring accuracy of data captured to ensure the quality of level 1 triage issue tickets when raised.
- Ensure key testing assets are kept up to date and help in testing complex issues / systems.
- Working with all other areas of the business to ensure issues are understood and prioritised correctly.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of issue / defect management processes and tools.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques and problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and present metrics, KPIs and performance dashboards
- Solid understanding of software integration principles and dependencies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions on complex or sensitive matters.
- High attention to detail and process discipline.
- Ability to identify areas of weakness and where help is needed.
- Experience working within structured project governance frameworks (e.g., PMO, programme teams). Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
- Ability to maintain and update issue registers and tracking systems with accuracy and rigour.
- Ability to facilitate regular issue review meetings, ensuring clear ownership and timely follow-up.
Essential Education Required:
- Degree or equivalent experience.
