Job description
o This position is responsible for engineering the virtualization layer of the Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) stack. o The role involves enabling standardized, production-grade hosting for various Internal Cloud workload types, such as virtual machines, grid compute, and container platforms, on the HCI foundation. o The individual will ensure that the virtualization layer meets enterprise requirements for availability, performance, resiliency, and operability, while integrating seamlessly with the broader HCI stack components through automation. Responsibilities o Engineer and maintain the VMware-based virtualization platform layer within the Internal Cloud HCI stack. o Support lifecycle changes and upgrades of the virtualization layer. o Validate performance and resiliency behavior of the virtualization layer. o Collaborate with automation and platform teams to ensure consistent delivery of virtualization capabilities as part of the automation-driven HCI build model. o Develop and uphold virtualization engineering patterns, platform configurations, and operational standards for virtualized workload domains.
Requirements
o Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in a related field, Primary Skill: VMware ESX Secondary Skill: VMware vSAN Tertiary Skill: Networking o 4-5 years of experience in engineering or operating enterprise virtualization platforms in production environments. o Strong hands-on experience with Linux workloads and infrastructure troubleshooting in virtualized environments. o Familiarity with VMware virtualization concepts and hyperconverged infrastructure fundamentals. o Experience in supporting virtualization lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, stability/performance triage, and production change processes. Desired Skills o 5-7+ years of experience supporting virtualization platforms at an enterprise scale. o Experience operating virtualization platforms that support multiple workload domains, including VMs, container platforms, and grid/batch. o VMware certification (e.g., VCP) or equivalent training/experience. o Experience working in regulated environments with formal operational readiness, change control, and release governance expectations.
