Job description
We are seeking a mid-level M365 Front-End Developer / Web Publisher to support Operations and Maintenance activities for a component of a federal agency. This role supports internal and external websites using Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Drupal, and related technologies.
This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 9:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
The selected candidate will join a collaborative team of developers, analysts/testers, and web publishers supporting mission-critical government websites and applications.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide development, operations, and maintenance support for SharePoint Online (M365) intranet environments
- Support requirements gathering, documentation, and customer demonstrations
- Publish and maintain content on public-facing (Drupal) and intranet (M365) websites
- Provide testing support for monthly release deployments, including unit, regression, and accessibility testing
- Support short turnaround publishing requests in a deadline-driven environment
- Participate in an on-call rotation (~1 week per month) to provide after-hours emergency publishing support (approximately 4-5 calls per month)
- Troubleshoot site issues in coordination with platform engineers and Microsoft support
- Monitor Microsoft Message Center for platform updates and changes
- Define and validate acceptance criteria for website features
- Provide solution recommendations during team and client meetings
- Collaborate with external agencies on U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) features and releases
- Maintain compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
- 1-3 years of experience designing, building, maintaining, and publishing business or government websites
- 3-5 years of experience working with Microsoft 365 platforms, including SharePoint Online
- Experience with responsive website design and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements
- Experience publishing content to public and intranet sites (Drupal CMS experience preferred)
- Experience supporting structured testing activities (unit, regression, accessibility)
- Proficiency with HTML 5, CSS, and JavaScript (JQuery, Bootstrap, etc.)
- Experience with SharePoint Online and Power Platform (including Power Automate)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across platforms and systems
- Ability to work the required Eastern Time Zone schedule
- Familiarity with U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for image editing
- Experience supporting branded government websites
- Experience designing pages and layouts for large branded sites under short deadlines.
- Strong background building prototypes, wireframes, and visualizations to help clients articulate design requirements.
- Deep understanding of color theory, typography, and layout.
- Experience Applying UI/UX design principles to your work from page layouts to entire site designs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to provide examples of your website design work.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in the humanities with strong work experience in a technical field preferred
- Experience redesigning large websites a plus.
- M365 certification(s) desired
- Google UX Design Certification is a plus
- Drupal CMS experience preferred
