Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Architect to support the E-7A Mission Software Architecture team in Tukwila, WA.
Develop next generation Open Mission Software (OMS) Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) Software primarily for USAF E-7A, but also supporting other Airborne Surveillance, Command and Control (ASC2) programs like E-3 AWACS, 767 AWACS, and other 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft. Position Responsibilities:
- Designs and leads DevSecOps architecture, including CI/CD pipelines, secure build and deployment practices, and automated security/compliance gating
- Packages and deploys software to multiple variant targets (e.g., airborne/ground variants, hardware configurations, OS/VM/container targets)
- Translates system-level requirements into software requirements and maintain traceability to design, code, and test artifacts
- Performs system-level analysis to identify risks and drive mitigation across the software lifecycle
- Leads code reviews and oversees verification, integration, and test activities
- Collaborates with systems engineering, security, operations, and supplier teams to ensure operational, safety, and certification objectives are met
- Develops user and operator documentation and supports training activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance Post-Start is required
- 10+ years' experience developing and deploying software programs
- 10+ years' experience in systems architecture, requirements analysis, test, and verification
- 5+ years' experience in Agile methodologies or tools
- 5+ years' experience Python or Groovy scripting and programming
- 5+ years' experience using Systems Engineering tools (i.e., CAMEO, CORE 9, etc.) for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), * Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Experience leading code reviews, supporting verification & test, and resolving software issues
- Experience with systems architecture (systems-level decomposition, interface definition, functional allocation)
- Experience with Cameo
- Experience with containerization, orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and automated security tooling
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile Mission Suite (AMS) Government Reference Architecture (GRA), or Open Missions Systems (OMS)
- Prior work on DoD/USAF or other defense software programs preferred

Travel:
Position may require travel up to 10% of the time., This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required., Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Required, This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Summary Pay Range: USD $190,400 - $257,600
