Job description

Please note that this is a limited-term position with the possibility of being extended up to 24 months or becoming permanent.

Anticipated Interview Dates: We anticipate holding in-person interviews in June 2026

Business Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm

Current In-Office Requirement: Two days, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The CalSTRS Employer Services Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Analyst I on the Employer Help Team.

The Employer Services (ES) Division is the primary communication interface with the plan's participating employers. It is also the custodian of the members' accounts from election to benefit/termination status. Over a million contribution lines are submitted monthly from participating employers and ES staff ensures the timeliness and accuracy of the contribution data.

The Employer Help (EH) unit within the Employer Services (ES) Division is the area of the organization that provides consultative services and assistance to employers of K-12 and community college educators as it relates to the reporting of contribution data and troubleshooting file submission issues. The goal of Employer Help is to ensure employer reporting is accurate and timely.

Under the supervision of the Pension Program Manager I (PPM I) the Analyst l is responsible for membership and contribution data analysis; reporting adjustments and clarification of employer approved annotations to ensure data is transmitted accurately and timely and in accordance with the Education Code. In-state travel may be required to assist in employer training., When completing the SOQ, please include all relevant experience, education, and training, as applicable, and explain all answers thoroughly.   • This job requires data analysis, interpretation, and application of data to estimate the impact of various policies and program changes. Please describe in detail your specific experience in the application of technical tools, systems and programs (i.e., SharePoint, Microsoft Excel/Macros, Outlook) and your level of expertise utilizing those resources.

CalSTRS Personal Trading Program

Investment Branch employees are required to participate in the CalSTRS Personal Trading Program which allows CalSTRS to monitor employees' personal trading transactions in order to reduce risks associated with insider trading, front running, and misusing material non-public information. Upon accepting a position within the Investment Branch, you will be required to disclose your personal broker account information and be required to utilize a personal broker from a designated list as provided by CalSTRS.

Background Investigation

Prior to employment with CalSTRS, a background investigation (BI) will be conducted. The BI consists of a Personal History Statement and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice. The BI will check criminal and civil records and, if applicable, verify education and check driving records.

Benefits & conditions

Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025. This program reduces employees' monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits for the duration of the program.
