Job description

An Insight Global Client is currently looking for a data center engineer with a mechanical focus to join their team. This individual will be responsible for:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC mechanical systems that support mission-critical data center operations.

  • Monitor and maintain closed-loop chilled water systems to ensure optimal cooling performance.

  • Support and maintain critical mechanical infrastructure, including:

? Air handlers

? CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioner) units

? CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) units

? Humidifiers and dehumidifiers

  • Partner with operations leadership to ensure uptime, redundancy, and compliance with data center standards.

  • Assist with mechanical systems optimization in support of high-density environments, including AI-based workloads.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, respond to alarms, and support issue resolution across mechanical systems.

  • Document work performed and analyze operational data using tools such as Excel and other monitoring platforms.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or similar critical facilities.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:

? HVAC mechanical systems

? Closed-loop chilled water systems

? Air handlers, CRACs, and CRAHs

? Humidification and dehumidification systems

  • Working knowledge of MEP controls and integration with mechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with direct-to-chip cooling concepts, particularly in AI-driven data center architectures.

  • Experience working with operational data and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, monitoring dashboards, trend analysis).

  • Ability to respond to operational demands with urgency, accountability, and flexibility. - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Exposure to AI infrastructure tools or AI-enabled monitoring systems.

  • Prior experience supporting high-density or AI-focused data center environments.
