Head of AI Technology Practice & Transformation

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded leader to establish and lead our AI Technology Practice, driving software engineering modernisation and identifying practical AI opportunities across the enterprise.

This role will sit at the intersection of technology strategy, engineering transformation, platform modernisation and AI enablement. The successful candidate will help shape how AI is embedded into engineering delivery, internal operations and technology decision-making to improve productivity, accelerate delivery and modernise ways of working.

This is not a pure data science role. We are looking for a strong technology leader with deep experience in software engineering, enterprise technology transformation and modern delivery practices, combined with a pragmatic understanding of emerging AI capabilities.

The role will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product, Security, Operations and Business Leadership teams to establish scalable AI-enabled practices, governance and delivery models., AI Technology Practice Leadership

• Establish and lead the enterprise AI Technology Practice and roadmap
• Define AI strategy aligned to business and technology priorities
• Build reusable AI capabilities, frameworks, governance and standards
• Develop an AI operating model and engagement approach across technology teams
• Act as a senior advisor to CIO, CTO and Engineering leadership

Software Engineering Modernisation

• Drive AI-assisted software engineering adoption across development teams
• Modernise SDLC processes using AI-enabled tooling and automation
• Introduce engineering productivity frameworks and developer experience improvements
• Lead adoption of AI coding assistants, automated testing, agentic workflows, platform engineering and DevSecOps automation
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and accelerate delivery

Enterprise AI Enablement

• Identify and prioritise high-value internal AI use cases
• Partner with business and operational teams to improve efficiency and decision making
• Support intelligent automation and operational optimisation initiatives
• Ensure responsible and secure AI adoption across the organization

Governance & Risk

• Establish AI governance, security and compliance standards
• Work closely with Security, Risk and Legal teams
• Ensure alignment with regulatory and ethical AI requirements
• Define controls for model usage, data access and operational oversight

Capability Building

• Build internal AI capability, knowledge sharing and communities of practice
• Coach technology leaders and engineering teams
• Support talent development and future skills planning
• Evaluate strategic partnerships and vendor relationships

Do you have experience in Test automation?, * Significant years of leadership experience in software engineering, enterprise technology or digital transformation

• Proven experience leading engineering modernisation or platform transformation initiatives
• Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices including cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, platform engineering and API-first architecture
• Practical understanding of AI and GenAI technologies and their enterprise application
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional transformation
• Strong commercial and operational mindset
• Experience establishing governance, standards and scalable operating models

Desirable Experience

• Experience introducing AI-enabled engineering tooling
• Enterprise architecture or CTO-level exposure
• Consulting or transformation leadership background
• Experience within regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
• Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks and governance approaches
