Job description

- You will work alongside infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams supporting front office and core business services
The role in plain English You will be the hands on Windows engineer that keeps a secure, highly available estate running smoothly while also pushing improvements through automation, modern endpoint management, and cloud integration. You will operate across on prem virtualisation and hybrid cloud, taking ownership of upgrades, patching, monitoring, security hardening, backup resilience, and delivery of infrastructure projects.
What you will do
- Deploy, support, and optimise Windows Server 2012 to 2022 estates supporting business critical applications
- Deliver and support Microsoft 365 capabilities including Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, Endpoint Manager, Conditional Access, and related identity controls
- Manage core identity services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and authentication services
- Maintain and improve on prem infrastructure running on VMware and or Nutanix AHV, plus hybrid platforms in Azure and or AWS
- Drive patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation to keep systems secure and compliant
- Monitor performance and availability, troubleshoot incidents end to end, and reduce repeat issues through automation and better standards
- Implement and manage endpoint security and patch management tooling to protect servers, desktops, and shared infrastructure
- Own backup and recovery processes, ensuring resilience and reliable restore capability
- Contribute to larger projects such as migrations, platform upgrades, and new service deployments
- Produce high quality documentation including runbooks, procedures, change records, and platform diagrams
- Work with stakeholders and vendors, and in some environments join an on call rotation
Requirements
- Strong experience as a Windows Systems Engineer or Senior Windows Administrator supporting production estates
- Solid hands on experience with Windows Server and Microsoft 365 administration
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory services and identity fundamentals
- Good understanding of networking basics including TCP IP, LAN WAN, DNS, VLANs, routing concepts
- Confident troubleshooting approach, calm under pressure, and strong communication skills
- Financial services exposure is highly valued, especially hedge fund, trading, buy side, or highly regulated environments
Nice to have
- PowerShell scripting or automation experience
- Hybrid cloud troubleshooting experience across Azure and AWS
- Linux administration exposure
- Security tooling experience such as Defender for Endpoint, Purview, DLP, endpoint management, hardening standards
- Monitoring and observability tools and incident response familiarity
