Job description
We are seeking a contract Infrastructure Programme Manager to lead a portfolio of infrastructure initiatives and deliver measurable outcomes across networks, data centres, cloud connectivity, security, end user computing, and core platforms. This is a senior delivery leadership role responsible for programme governance, delivery assurance, stakeholder alignment, financial control, and driving multiple workstreams to deliver safely with minimal impact to live services.
You will own the programme plan, manage interdependencies, lead delivery managers and project managers, and coordinate technical and operational teams to execute complex change through design, build, testing, cutover, and service transition. The role requires strong experience of regulated or high availability environments, where change control, operational readiness, and risk management are critical.
Key responsibilities You will define and maintain the programme roadmap, integrated plan, milestones, and dependency management across multiple projects and vendors. You will establish governance and delivery rhythm, including steering committees, RAID management, reporting, decision logging, and escalation paths.
You will lead programme delivery across technical workstreams, ensuring scope is controlled and outcomes remain aligned to business priorities. You will drive implementation readiness, including test strategy, cutover planning, rollback planning, and go or no go management. You will ensure service transition and hypercare are planned and executed, with BAU teams fully prepared and documentation updated.
You will manage programme financials, including budgets, forecasts, spend tracking, benefits tracking, and supplier commercials where applicable. You will actively manage vendor performance, delivery quality, resourcing, and contractual obligations, ensuring outputs meet agreed standards and timelines.
You will communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, aligning expectations, removing blockers, and ensuring risks are identified early with effective mitigation plans. Requirements
- Proven experience leading infrastructure programmes involving multiple projects and workstreams
- Strong governance, RAID management, dependency management, and delivery assurance
- Excellent stakeholder management at senior levels, with clear reporting and escalation discipline
- Strong understanding of infrastructure change, including data centre, network, cloud, and security delivery
- Experience coordinating multi vendor suppliers and internal technical teams
- Strong financial control, forecasting, and benefits or outcomes tracking
- Comfortable working in high availability environments with out of hours cutovers and strict change control
Desirable
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, telecoms, utilities, or public sector
- Familiarity with ITIL, service transition, and operational readiness best practice
- Delivery certifications such as MSP, PRINCE2, APM, SAFe, or equivalent
- Experience with tooling such as MS Project, Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence, and Power BI
