Job description
TEKsystems is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to support a large-scale enterprise initiative converting legacy POTS lines to VOIP across multiple locations. This role will provide day-to-day telecom support, coordinate installations, and ensure reliable voice and connectivity services throughout the duration of the project.
This is a long-term contract supporting a highly visible transformation effort.
Key Responsibilities

Support and manage enterprise telecommunications systems including:
-
Voice (VOIP & SIP)
-
POTS lines (conversion focus)
-
Cellular mobility
-
Internet connectivity and circuits
-
Coordinate telecom installations, upgrades, disconnects, and decommissioning
-
Assist with telecom service requests (moves, adds, changes, disconnects)
-
Troubleshoot telecom issues and coordinate resolution with carriers/vendors
-
Maintain telecom inventory, documentation, and asset tracking
-
Support cellular device management (activations, upgrades, troubleshooting)
-
Partner with field technicians, internal IT teams, and vendors on projects
-
Assist with telecom billing review and invoice processing

Working knowledge of telecom/network infrastructure

Ability to explain technical telecom concepts to non-technical audiences

Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Experience with telecom billing and vendor management

New site builds

Refurbishments

Circuit and phone line provisioning

Familiarity with tools such as:

ServiceNow (preferred)

JIRA (preferred)

Experience with structured cabling (Cat5/Cat6, copper) is a plus, + Strong telecom foundation with hands-on VOIP and legacy system experience

Organized and detail-oriented with inventory and documentation

Comfortable working across teams, vendors, and business units
-
Able to manage multiple requests and priorities in a fast-paced environment

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
