Job description

Software Engineering Manager (Digital) role oversees design and delivery of a global, complex, micro-service ecosystem. The manager leads delivery teams responsible for systems, technology, quality and digital capabilities, including headless digital ordering and omnichannel order management across global markets. The role supports engineering leadership across up to two product lines, promotes agile, user-centric practices and builds a world-class engineering team. Responsibilities

  • Engineering leadership overseeing design and delivery of a global, complex, micro-service ecosystem.
  • Support a delivery team responsible for systems, technology, quality and delivery of digital capabilities-including headless digital ordering for Ford.com eCommerce, Mobile and In-Vehicle.
  • Build and deliver a modern, greenfield open-stack platform based on MACH architecture principles.
  • Model modern software engineering practices (TDD, BDD, CI/CD, Shift Left, 12-factor applications, API-first design) to integrate with Ford products and external cloud services.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to rationalize technologies, leverage existing offerings and identify gaps.
  • Implement a talent system to review current team capabilities and promote practices for a high-performing engineering team.
  • Strategize with senior leaders to drive measurable global impact through agile, iterative, user-centric delivery.
  • Provide thought leadership on development, organization, technology, strategic planning, budgeting and professional development.
  • Transform teams from a project mindset to a product mindset.
  • Oversee engineering leadership for up to two eCommerce product lines.
  • Help business partners understand iterative development and prioritize MVP releases.
  • Manage an initial core team of ~10 associates and external partner capacity.

Requirements

  • Conversant in digital E-commerce processes and technologies.
  • Experience evolving agile software delivery practices and processes.
  • Experience with Microservices, Cloud-Native, Event-Driven architectures, APIs, Domain-Driven Design, GCP Hosting, Serverless, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Experience advancing STLC or QA practices.
  • Experience advancing DevOps practices.
  • Collaborated with cloud, security or other technical domain experts.
  • Hands-on AI engineering or use experience.
  • Strong change-management experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual setting with global team members.
  • Proven facilitation skills to drive discussion and reach decisions.
  • Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership teams.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across the organization., Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Salary range: $132,800 - $250,800 (Leadership Level?6). Final determination of salary grade is based on skills, experience and market value.
