Job description
The Cyber Sales Engineer will serve as a technical subject-matter expert supporting federal sales engagements across Health, Civilian, Defense, Homeland Security, and Intelligence Community (IC) agencies. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with Splunk, Appgate, Okta, and Palo Alto Networks technologies, and is comfortable translating complex cybersecurity and observability solutions into mission-aligned business value.
Working alongside account executives, this role provides pre-sales architecture guidance, solution demonstrations, and technical leadership throughout the full capture lifecycle. The Sales Engineer must understand federal security, compliance, and procurement requirements, as well as agency-specific mission challenges., * Lead technical discovery sessions with federal customers to assess mission needs, current-state environments, and security constraints.
- Design tailored solutions leveraging Splunk (SIEM/Observability), Appgate (Zero Trust), Okta (Identity Management), and Palo Alto (Network Security).
- Conduct product demonstrations, pilots, and proof-of-concepts in secure or air-gapped environments.
- Provide technical validation and solution documentation for RFPs, RFIs, and proposals.
- Partner with federal account teams to drive technical strategy, competitive positioning, and solution differentiation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to federal stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with federal frameworks (e.g., Zero Trust Architecture, NIST SP 800-53/207, TIC 3.0).
- Support development of architecture diagrams, bill of materials, and implementation guidance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal cybersecurity mandates, ATO processes, and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate with product teams to communicate customer requirements and influence roadmaps.
Requirements

8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years experience working with or supporting U.S. federal agencies (Health, Civilian, DoD, DHS, IC).

Hands-on technical experience with:

Splunk Enterprise / ES / Observability

Appgate SDP or Zero Trust solutions
-
Okta Identity, Access, MFA, and Federation services

Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma, or Cortex platforms

Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity requirements, secure networks, and mission environments.

Demonstrated ability to design and articulate technical architectures to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience delivering product demos, POCs, and technical workshops.

Excellent communication, customer engagement, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting capture activities, proposals, and technical volumes in the federal market.
- Certifications such as Splunk Certified Architect, Okta Certified Professional, Palo Alto PCNSE, or other relevant credentials.
- Prior work within Health (HHS, CMS, NIH), Civilian (DoJ, Treasury, USDA, DOT), Defense (Army, Navy, Air Force, DISA), Homeland Security (DHS components), or Intelligence Agencies.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust, cloud security architectures (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov), and FedRAMP requirements.

Benefits & conditions
The likely salary range for this position is $164,382 - $218,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
