Software Engineer

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across engineering teams using Ruby and Java;
• Build software infrastructure, including developing, testing, and deploying it;
• Design and develop software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design;
• Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation;
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack;
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints;
• Work with engineers and cross-functional partners across the company;
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes., Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, or related field followed by 4 years of software development experience.
• 3 years of experience building software solutions using Ruby, Typescript or Java;
• 3 years of experience defining storage schemas for relational, document or columnar databases;
• 3 years of experience querying data stores using SQL;
• 3 years of experience building and integrating service endpoints using GRPC, Thrift, or GraphQL;
• 3 years of experience building systems integrated with event processing technologies including SQS, Kafka or RabbitMQ; and
• 1 year of experience architecting and designing microservices.

Salary: $160,805 - $235,200/yr.

This salary range represents the base salary range for the role and any sales commissions/sales bonuses targets, if applicable, would be in addition to the base salary.

40 hrs/week

Up to 50% telework permitted.
