Job Summary: SMSI, LLC is seeking a Cloud Engineer with experience building and securing platforms on AWS, Azure, and GCP to support our client onsite at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM. candidate will have experience with multiple cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), supporting mission, scientific, and enterprise workloads in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.This division consists of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computer Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technician employees who provide the varied Laboratory organizations with Information Technology experts who design, build, and support their mission-driven technical needs, on the unclassified and classified networks through several different service touchpoints. In addition, optimize the use of information technology, ensure seamless delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring system performance, applying configuration management practices, creating processes and standards for selection and implementation. Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of information technology experience is required.
  • Experience deploying and managing cloud environments in AWS and GCP (Azure exposure a plus), including provisioning computer, networking, storage, IAM, and managed services.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform/Terragrunt to provision and update cloud resources; manage state, modules, and environment configurations.
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platform engineering, including IAM roles/policies, load balancing, autoscaling, and secure service configurations.
  • Experience with code / building guardrails for multi cloud platforms.
  • Experience with multi cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, and Azure.

  • Candidates must have the ability to work with many team members across multiple disciplines.
  • The position requires background and pre-employment drug screening for drug-free workplace.
  • This person must be able to work onsite at LANL during regular business hours 4-5 days per week.
  • The candidate must be US Citizen.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong experience in government (DOE or DOD) in GCC high environments is preferred.
  • Active or recently inactive Q clearance is preferred but not required.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related discipline, along with 8-10 years of experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Cloud certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work onsite at LANL up to 3-4 days per week.
