Job description

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking experienced Senior Java Developers / Software Engineer 3 professionals to support critical enterprise application initiatives within the SCOR BAU EI parallel initiative.

This role will focus on enhancing and maintaining enterprise Java applications, including updates to business logic, user interfaces, reporting capabilities, and system data models. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Java enterprise development, RESTful APIs, Spring Framework technologies, and relational database development within large-scale application environments.

This is a highly technical, hands-on development role supporting mission-critical systems across multiple environments.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and enhance enterprise Java applications on the J2EE platform
  • Modify and extend business logic, UI functionality, and reporting capabilities
  • Design and implement RESTful web services using Spring Framework
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and relational database components
  • Support application maintenance, defect correction, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Participate in peer code reviews, unit testing, and code quality initiatives
  • Maintain testing standards, code coverage, and security policies
  • Support deployments and application functionality across multiple environments
  • Collaborate with technical teams, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver software solutions
  • Provide on-call support as needed

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using Java
  • 8+ years of experience developing applications on the J2EE platform
  • 8+ years of experience writing SQL for relational databases
  • 8+ years of experience developing RESTful web services using Spring Framework
  • 8+ years of experience with Spring AOP, including transaction management and security
  • 8+ years of experience with JUnit and unit testing methodologies, * 4+ years of experience with Angular framework
  • 4+ years of experience with Crystal Reports
  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI
