Job description

This job is responsible for maximizing the value for one or more products. Key responsibilities include working with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with product managers or specialists to ensure they are aligning on priorities and creating the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Job expectations include ensuring delivery of products that meet the expectations of our clients, including features, security, availability, resiliency, timelines and costs.

Responsible for maximizing the value for a product. Defines the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team. Works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure there is alignment. Possess a working knowledge of the product, and basic understanding of the business or technology domain. With some guidance, creates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems. Creates and prioritizes work for one team. Learning to collaborate with cross-functional teams. With some guidance, creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business. Individual contributor.

This role serves as an individual contributor who partners closely with Product Management, stakeholders, and delivery teams within a scaled Agile environment to ensure alignment between business needs, product strategy, and execution. The individual coordinates the refinement of low-level, detailed requirements and manages daily work assignment at the story level, maintaining a strong working knowledge of the product and a foundational understanding of the relevant business and technology domains. They work directly with stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into actionable work, while collaborating with the Product Manager to adhere to the established roadmap and prioritization.

The role is responsible for creating, refining, prioritizing, and maintaining stories in the product backlog, ensuring there are sufficient "ready" stories to support the next one to two sprints. This includes refining stories with the team, reviewing and accepting completed work, and making on-the-spot decisions regarding scope and requirements as needed. The individual manages team capacity with a forward-looking view of three to four months, confirms development completion, and regularly demos completed work to Product Management and other key stakeholders. Through a deep understanding of the functional capabilities of supported applications and platforms, this role works in close partnership with the team to maximize business value delivered through technology.

Requirements

  • 3+ years relevant work experience with business and technology projects including process improvement/re-engineering and technology change efforts

  • Knowledge of project tools (JIRA experience preferred)

  • User Acceptance Testing experience

  • Experience with and knowledge of Agile project management methodology

  • Process design oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to facilitate meetings, capture key outcomes/actions and own product documentation

  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and in Visio

  • Strong decision making skills with an assertive and proactive communication style

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and active listening skills

  • Must be proficient in data management to include strong data analytic capability

  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, determined and positive - especially under pressure

  • Critical thinker and risk minded

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting and participating in technology change efforts

  • Proficient in understanding technology and data management

  • 5+ years of project management experience with a complete understanding of the key principles and frameworks of Project Management and Process Development

  • Scrum Master experience

  • Agile SAFE certification
