Test Case Visionary Automation Innovation IEEE 802.3 IEEE 802.1Q Communication Test Automation Laboratory Testing Systems Engineering Systems Integration System Requirements Software Engineering Computer Engineering Procedure Development Test Execution Engine Laboratory Experience Electrical Engineering Artificial Intelligence Critical Illness Insurance Verification And Validation Python (Programming Language) Model Based Systems Engineering Troubleshooting (Problem Solving) Application Programming Interface (API), This on-site Systems Engineer role supports an aerospace networking team during the integration phase, with a strong focus on hardware-software integration, verification and validation, and hands-on troubleshooting in a lab environment. You will work with first-time builds and prototypes, help ramp up test case and procedure development based on defined system requirements, and use Time-Sensitive Networking technologies and Python-based automation to ensure robust, reliable system performance., * Support hardware and software integration activities for aerospace networking systems in a lab environment.

  • Perform verification and validation activities, including execution of existing models, test cases, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system, hardware, and equipment-level issues during prototype and first-time builds.
  • Develop, refine, and execute integration procedures based on system requirements.
  • Work at the black-box hardware and system integration level to validate behavior and identify defects.
  • Assist with ramp-up of test case development as new hardware is received and integrated into the program environment.
  • Use Python to automate test, integration, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Interface with relevant APIs to support automation, test execution, and tool integration.
  • Work with traffic generation and lab test equipment, including tools such as Keysight Ixia.
  • Use internal and external simulation tools to emulate customer traffic and avionics protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with networking and integration teams to support end-of-design and early integration program milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in systems engineering within an embedded, aerospace, avionics, or networking environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technologies.
  • Experience with IEEE 802.1AS and IEEE 802.3 protocols.
  • Experience in system integration, particularly hardware-software integration at the subsystem or black-box level.
  • Experience performing verification and validation, including test execution, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to work with existing models, test cases, and procedures and adapt them for integration activities.
  • Strong hands-on lab experience with hardware, prototypes, and test equipment.
  • Fluent Python skills for automation of test and integration tasks.
  • Experience working with APIs to support automation and tool integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across system, hardware, and equipment interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently in a mid-level systems engineering role.
  • Ability to work on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with additional TSN-related protocols and standards such as IEEE 802.1Q, 802.1CB, 802.1DP, and 802.1Ased.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including tools such as Cameo.
  • Familiarity with avionics networking or aircraft communication protocols.
  • Experience using traffic generators such as Keysight Ixia.
  • Familiarity with simulating traffic or avionics protocols in Python or C#.
  • Prior experience supporting aerospace development programs during integration and prototype build phases.
  • Experience developing or refining integration procedures and automated test workflows.

Benefits & conditions

This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
