Network Automation Engineer (Heavy on the front end)

This role supports a customer network team with a strong focus on modern network operations, automation, and applied artificial intelligence. The engineer will front load several key initiatives tied to a new building deployment and will act as a technical backup to the core team. The work is expected to be intensive early in the engagement, with potential variability in workload later based on project dependencies. This role requires deep networking fundamentals combined with hands on automation and AI driven workflow development. Cisco Identity Services Engine is a critical component of the role., * Leverage existing network compliance tooling to ensure network configurations are standardized and compliant, and identify additional network automation opportunities

• Develop and improve automation workflows to detect and remediate configuration drift, and provide feedback on tool capabilities and enhancement opportunities
• Identify and execute ThousandEyes tests to improve network visibility and establish repeatable operational processes
• Perform general routing and switching work and collaborate with the team to design a team or enterprise level network lab using existing hardware
• Provide knowledge transfer and potential daily keep the lights on network support as needed
• Audit existing Cisco Identity Services Engine policies, identify redundancies and cleanup opportunities, and design a TrustSec segmentation proof of concept for a campus environment
• Partner with the team to expand and maintain network documentation and the shared knowledge base
• Support additional initiatives as needed based on skill alignment and project demand

Do you have experience in Telecommunications network device configuration?, * Strong hands on experience in enterprise networking with solid routing and switching fundamentals

• Demonstrated experience with modern network operations, automation first workflows, and applied artificial intelligence in daily engineering tasks
• Experience developing automation workflows for network configuration, compliance, and remediation
• Practical experience with Ansible for network focused workflows
• Familiarity with ThousandEyes and the ability to design operational processes around network visibility
• Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine and understanding of TrustSec concepts and segmentation strategies
• Proven ability to integrate AI tools and agents into both automated and non automated engineering workflows
• Ability to operate as a technical backup during critical deployment phases and collaborate effectively across teams
