Job description
You will be working for IBM, supporting our public sector clients, and the role is fully onsite at the IBM Hursley location.
As a Senior Technical Support Professional (L2), you will use your technical expertise and leadership skills to deliver high-quality support and drive continuous improvement across our services.
Responsibilities include:

Handling complex production support tasks requiring deep understanding of the application, its function, and underlying technologies

Managing incidents, changes, and problems, and monitoring production processing

Following the ITIL framework and escalating to Level 3 support when needed
-
Coaching and mentoring junior team members to support skill growth and development
-
Collaborating with stakeholders to define system architecture and ensure smooth integration with support solutions

Please note
This role follows a rotating 4-on / 4-off schedule, which includes:

Four consecutive day shifts (7am-7pm)

Four days off

Four consecutive night shifts (7pm-7am)
Candidates must be fully flexible to work both day and night shifts.
Requirements
Required technical and professional expertise
- In-depth knowledge of the application, its functionality, and the underlying technology
- Masterful proficiency in using Netcool, SNOW, PowerShell, SQL, Oracle, and Solarwinds tools
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality technical support solutions in a professional setting
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred technical and professional experience
Technical Skills:
*Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V

Understanding of major cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Strong ability to diagnose and resolve network issues

Knowledge of common network protocols and industry standards
