Job description
We are currently seeking an IT Technician to join our IT & Digital Experience department at The Bedford College Group as Summer Cover.
As an IT Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- IT Support & Service Delivery - Provide first-line IT support across multiple channels (helpdesk, phone, email and in person), ensuring timely resolution of technical issues and excellent customer service.
- Infrastructure, Systems & Troubleshooting - Configure, maintain and troubleshoot IT equipment, networks and systems, supporting efficient and reliable IT service delivery across all college sites.
- Systems Administration & Asset Management - Manage user accounts, maintain accurate asset records, track equipment and support inventory processes to ensure effective IT resource management.
- Documentation, Communication & Continuous Improvement - Produce user guides, maintain intranet content and contribute to IT service updates, supporting clear communication and ongoing service improvement.
- Collaboration, Compliance & Professional Practice - Work closely with IT and wider teams, uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety requirements, and contribute to quality improvement and service excellence.
Requirements
- Qualifications & Technical IT Skills - Level 2 qualification in Computing (or equivalent experience), with strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft applications and willingness to develop literacy and numeracy skills.
- IT Support, Installation & Troubleshooting - Skilled in installing, maintaining and troubleshooting PC hardware, peripherals and software, with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Customer Support & Communication - Able to communicate technical information clearly to non-IT users, providing responsive support while maintaining strong customer service standards.
- Problem Solving, Initiative & Teamwork - Proactive with strong troubleshooting abilities, able to work independently or collaboratively, follow procedures and contribute positively to team objectives.
- Professional Practice, Flexibility & Safeguarding - Flexible and adaptable with willingness to work varied hours, committed to safeguarding, professional boundaries and continuous development of IT skills.
